The 12th National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities Concludes in Sanya |

On the evening of November 30, the 12th National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities of China concluded in Sanya, Hainan Province. In this edition of the games, the Sichuan delegation clinched a total of 36 medals, including 4 first-place awards, 11 second-place awards, and 21 third-place awards. The province achieved a historic milestone in its participation in the games, sending its largest delegation, participating in the most events, and securing the highest number of medals. The Sichuan delegation also received the Sportsmanship Prize of the 12th National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities.
Sichuan sent a delegation of 225 participants to this year's games. They competed in ten events, including Pearl Ball, Cuqiu Ball, Crossbow Shooting, Top Spinning, Stilt Racing, and Ethnic Martial Arts, and participated in seven demonstration performances, such as Rod Climbing, Qiangling Competition, and Field Chess. Throughout the games, the Sichuan delegation adhered to the event's core values of "equality, unity, striving, and progress" and embraced the games' positioning as "a celebration of ethnic unity and a grand gathering for mass sports". They earnestly practiced and promoted China's sporting spirit and the ethos of ethnic unity, using the competition as a platform for emotional exchange and mutual learning. The delegation showcased the profound cultural heritage and contemporary significance of Sichuan's ethnic cultures and highlighted the province's new achievements in ethnic unity and progress.
In recent years, prioritizing forging a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation as its main task, Sichuan has endeavored to promote high-quality development of the Party's work on ethnic affairs and the cause of ethnic sports in the new era and continuously innovated carriers and built platforms to advance these initiatives. Sichuan has successfully hosted the provincial traditional games of ethnic minorities, actively organized national single-event competitions under the "Ethnic Sports Cup", innovatively carried out the "United in Sports, One Big Family" initiative, and facilitated the incorporation of ethnic sports into broader events, such as National Fitness Competition and the Provincial Fitness Sports Meet, and more. Through these efforts, the province has been actively promoting and preserving fine traditional Chinese culture and China's sporting spirit, comprehensively advancing the development of a shared spiritual home for the Chinese nation, and enhancing interactions, exchanges and integration among all ethnic groups, aiming to effectively and concretely forge a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation. |
