On December 27, the Standing Committee of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee held a meeting to deliver and study the essence of the important speeches and instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping and the guiding principles from relevant central meetings, as well as to discuss the implementation opinions for Sichuan Province. Additionally, the conference was held to hear reports regarding the province's efforts during 2024 on implementing the central Party leadership's eight-point decision on improving conduct and the corresponding ten-point guidelines issued by the provincial Party committee and the provincial government, among other situations, deliberated on pertinent documents, and discussed and planned the subsequent actions necessary to carry out the associated tasks. Wang Xiaohui, Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee, chaired and addressed the conference.
The conference noted that General Secretary Xi Jinping arrived in Macao for an inspection tour and attended multiple events, during which he delivered key speeches and instructions. We need to diligently study and implement the gist of General Secretary's important speeches and instructions, profoundly grasp General Secretary's political considerations regarding the "one country, two systems" cause in its new stage and the strategic plans for the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, intensify our collaboration with Macao in areas such as economy and trade, culture and tourism, conventions and exhibitions, and traditional Chinese medicine, and consistently broaden our industrial cooperation with the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, so as to contribute to advancing the cause of "one country, two systems" through our concrete actions.
It was noted at the conference that General Secretary Xi Jinping made an important speech after listening to the work report from the CPC Hainan provincial committee and the provincial government. Focusing on planning for and advancing reform, opening up, and high-quality development, he issued important requirements for various work aspects, including intensifying efforts to build a modern industrial system, steadily promoting reform in key areas, continuously improving civility among residents and throughout society, comprehensively improving people's livelihood and social governance, and further promoting the full and rigorous Party self-governance. These tasks are also the key and major issues that we have persistently focused on and are committed to addressing. All sectors across the province should comprehensively incorporate these requirements into our study and understanding, consistently apply them across all areas of work, and utilize reform as a catalyst to firmly promote high-quality development.
The conference pointed out that General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered an important speech at the symposium commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Comrade Qiao Shi. In the speech, he called upon the whole Party and all Chinese people to emulate Comrade Qiao Shi's exemplary revolutionary spirit and his noble qualities, rally together and diligently work to build China into a great country and move toward national rejuvenation on all fronts through Chinese modernization. We should diligently study and absorb the essence of General Secretary's important speech, learn from and emulate Comrade Qiao Shi's steadfast adherence to his convictions and his lofty ideals, his firm Party consciousness in upholding Party conduct and strict discipline, his precious quality of staying true to the original aspiration and working tirelessly for the people's welfare, his daring political stance on reform and proactive initiatives, his unwavering pursuit of respecting and enforcing the rule of law, and his work ethic characterized by practical and truth-seeking approach, with the aim of striving for excellence in all aspects of work in Sichuan.
The conference noted that General Secretary Xi Jinping made crucial directives regarding the "agriculture, rural areas, and farmers" work. In his important instructions, Xi fully affirmed the progress made in work related to agriculture, rural areas and farmers this year, put forward clear requirements for the work related to agriculture, rural areas and farmers in 2025, and provided scientific guidance to this work from a strategic viewpoint and with a focus on key areas. We need to thoroughly study and implement the important expositions and instructions on the "agriculture, rural areas, and farmers" work, fully implement the arrangements and requirements of the Central Rural Work Conference, take more precise and practical measures, take on the responsibility of safeguarding and ensuring national food security, continue to consolidate and expand the achievements in poverty alleviation, actively develop rural industries for the benefits of villagers, leverage reforms to stimulate the vitality of agricultural and rural development, and consistently strive for new achievements in the province's rural revitalization efforts.
The conference listened to a report regarding the province's efforts during 2024 on implementing the central Party leadership's eight-point decision on improving conduct and the ten-point guidelines issued by the provincial Party committee and the provincial government. The conference emphasized the need to have a profound understanding of the recurring and stubborn nature of the pointless formalities, bureaucratism, hedonism, and extravagance, improve institutional mechanisms, strengthen constraining effects, punish typical problems to enhance the deterrent effect, focus on the management of "key few" to strengthen the demonstration effect, persist in investigating both misconduct and corruption issues, deeply explore the corruption that underlies misconduct and meticulously examine the issues of misconduct that contribute to corruption, make unremitting and targeting efforts to rectify these problems, and further advance the work conduct building to a greater depth from a new and higher starting point.
The meeting affirmed the province's new achievements in the work related to the Party's history since the beginning of this year. It was emphasized that we should strive for high-quality development of the Party history work, always remember that "Party history work must remain faithful to the Party's principles and guidelines", follow the approach that upholds fundamental principles and breaks new ground, actively concentrate on our central tasks and serve the overall national interests, intensify our efforts to research, interpret, and promote the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's series of important instructions on Sichuan's work, enhance the contemplation and research on key theoretical and practical topics, better support the initiatives for Party history learning and education, and contribute more effectively to the development practices of Sichuan.
The conference affirmed the new accomplishments that the province has achieved in comprehensively deepening reforms within the medical and healthcare systems since the start of the current year. It was emphasized that we should focus on key areas to drive reform, integrate traditional Chinese and Western medicine in the reform process, center on industrial cultivation as part of the reform effort, and promote the coordinated development and governance of medical insurance, medical services, and pharmaceuticals, foster innovative development in traditional Chinese medicine, and work towards enhancing the quality and doubling the value of the pharmaceutical and health industry, thereby further improving the capacity and level of medical services, ensuring their quality and accessibility.
At the conference, attendees deliberated on the implementation plan for the province's 30 key initiatives related to people's well-being in 2025. It was emphasized that we must firmly establish a correct understanding of what it means to perform well, establish and improve mechanisms for implementing tasks, supervising and assessing performance, and tracking services, refine and execute specific action plans, fully promote the effective implementation of people's well-being initiatives, and ensure the tangible delivery of their benefits to the people.
