On March 19, Wang Xiaohui, Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of Sichuan Provincial People's Congress, met with an enterprise delegation led by Sean Stein, President of the U.S.-China Business Council (USCBC), in Chengdu.

During the meeting, Wang Xiaohui expressed a warm welcome to Sean Stein and the delegation for their visit to Sichuan and briefly introduced the economic and social development of the province. He said that the United States is an important investment and trade partner for Sichuan, and the USCBC has actively served as a bridge, making positive contributions to promoting exchanges and interactions between Sichuan and various sectors in the United States. In particular, following its visit to Sichuan last year, the USCBC has promoted multiple U.S.-funded companies to expand their investment layout and business operations in Sichuan, yielding a series of tangible outcomes. At present, Sichuan has reached a new historical starting point in its development. We will thoroughly implement the series of important directives from President Xi Jinping, adhere to high-quality development as the guide for the overall planning, and comprehensively advance the modernization of Sichuan on the new journey of the new era. These efforts will create new opportunities and space for a wide range of domestic and overseas enterprises, including U.S.-funded companies, to invest in Sichuan. It is hoped that the USCBC will fully exert its influence and appeal, build cooperation bridges, forge close ties, guide and encourage more U.S.-funded companies to invest and operate in Sichuan, and further strive for solid progress in the economic, trade and investment cooperation between Sichuan and U.S., jointly contributing to greater development of China-U.S. relations at a new starting point. We will remain steadfast in pursuing higher-standard opening up, consistently work to build a first-class business environment that is market-oriented, law-based, and internationalized, and strive to ensure that all types of enterprises feel more assured, comfortable and confident in investing and growing in Sichuan.

Sean Stein and the accompanying enterprise representatives expressed admiration for Sichuan's achievements in economic and social development and conveyed full confidence in investing and developing in the province. They stated that they will continue to dedicate efforts to promoting U.S.-China economic and trade relations and encouraging more U.S.-funded companies to invest and deepen their roots in Sichuan, aiming to achieve greater mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.

Provincial leaders Chen Wei and Zuo Yongxiang, as well as leading officials from relevant provincial departments, among others, participated in the meeting.
