On March 20, the reporter learned from the Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Culture, Broadcast-TV, and Tourism that the 9th International Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival Chengdu, China (hereinafter referred to as the ICH Festival) will take place at the Chengdu International Intangible Cultural Heritage Expo Park (ICH Expo Park) from May 28 to June 3.
The International Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival Chengdu, China was established in 2007 and is held biennially. It is the only festival event in China continuously co-organized by UNESCO.
This year's ICH Festival will present to the international community the proactive efforts of the Chinese government in implementing the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, feature ICH stories that emphasize the inheritance and promotion of the fine traditional Chinese culture, and highlight the cultural allure of vibrant Sichuan, as well as the unique grandeur of Tianfu Chengdu.
The ICH Festival aims to build a broader market platform for the protection and development of intangible cultural heritage, expand its reach from a "small circle" to a "big market", deeply incorporate industries such as cultural tourism, commerce, and technology, and unleash the immense economic and social value embedded in intangible cultural heritage.
