On August 22, Wang Xiaohui, Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of Sichuan Provincial People's Congress, met with Tran Quang Phuong, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly of Viet Nam, in Chengdu.

During the meeting, Wang Xiaohui, on behalf of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and the People's Government of Sichuan Province, extended a welcome to Tran Quang Phuong and his delegation for their visit to Sichuan and briefly introduced the province's economic and social development. He stated that China and Viet Nam are geographically connected, culturally akin, share heart-to-heart ties, uphold the same systems, and share an interlinked future, noting that the two countries are good neighbors, good friends, good comrades, and good partners. In April this year, General Secretary and President Xi Jinping successfully conducted a state visit to Viet Nam, reaching a series of important consensuses with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee To Lam and other Vietnamese leaders, which charted a grand blueprint for the future development of China-Viet Nam relations and also provided clear direction for Sichuan to continuously deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with Viet Nam and its various localities. In recent years, with the leapfrog development of China-Viet Nam relations, exchanges and cooperation between Sichuan and Viet Nam have been continuously deepened and expanded across various fields, achieving fruitful results. Next, we will earnestly implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries. Guided by the cooperation plan between the two governments on synergizing the Belt and Road Initiative and the Two Corridors and One Economic Circle strategy, we will enhance the level of connectivity between Sichuan and Viet Nam, strengthen exchanges between sub-national governments, focus on expanding investment cooperation in fields such as modern agriculture, clean energy, high-end manufacturing, and the digital economy, continuously expand trade exchanges, increase exchanges in cultural tourism, science-education, and youth fields, and promote the continuous development of the friendly relations between the two sides, thus contributing to the accelerated building of a China-Viet Nam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.

Tran Quang Phuong expressed admiration for Sichuan's achievements in economic and social development. He said that Viet Nam always gives top priority to developing its relations with China, and that the friendship between the two countries remains unbreakable with renewed vigor. Sichuan is a major province in western China and an important partner for Vietnam within the country. He expressed the willingness to take this visit to Sichuan as an opportunity to fully leverage the role of the legislative institutions, promote exchanges, mutual learning, and mutually beneficial cooperation with Sichuan in various fields, strive to achieve more practical results, so as to jointly benefit the people of the two places.

Also present were Huang Junhua, Vice Chairperson of the Ethnic Affairs Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) and a member of the China-Viet Nam Friendship Group of the NPC; provincial leaders Chen Wei, Pubu Dunzhu, and Wang Yanfei; and Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Thanh Binh, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Anh Tuan, and relevant representatives from the Vietnamese National Assembly, among others.
