TWG Village for The World Games 2025 Chengdu Opens
Updated: 2025.08.06

The TWG Village for the 12th edition of The World Games (TWG) 2025 officially opened on August 3, with operational services running through August 18.

A streamlined yet splendid opening ceremony commenced that morning at Tianfu International Hotel Complex, where Zone A of the TWG Village is located. Representatives of the International World Games Association, the Village Mayor, and five frontline staff members jointly activated a ceremonial lever. Amid cheers, animated mascots of China's "Twin Treasures"—the giant panda and golden monkey—pulled open a virtual gate, unveiling a scroll that read "Welcome to The World Games Village", marking the Village's readiness to host global athletes.

The Chengdu TWG Village comprises two zones: Zone A at Tianfu International Hotel Complex in Chengdu Eastern New Area, and Zone B at Holiday Inn Chengdu Century City in Chengdu High-tech Industrial Development Zone. Both utilize existing hotel facilities.

The TWG Village welcomed approximately 500 check-ins on its opening day. It will serve around 7,000 participants during the event. The TWG Village features dedicated facilities, including dining halls for athletes and officials, accreditation centers, participant service centres, medical rooms, traditional Chinese physiotherapy centres, fitness centers, resident service centres, nursing rooms, weigh-in areas, tailoring workshops, competition meeting rooms, doping control stations, anti-doping education outreach program workshops, and cultural activity areas, delivering full-spectrum support across accommodation, catering, participant services, accreditation, competition needs, cultural exchange, commercial services, logistics, and financial services.

The dining services blend Eastern and Western culinary traditions. Western dishes mainly feature Mediterranean flavors and classic Continental cuisine, and Chinese dishes highlight Sichuan intangible cultural heritage dishes, ensuring athletes enjoy both comforting hometown flavors and authentic Chinese and Sichuan gastronomy.

Transportation services include dedicated shuttle stops in fixed areas near both Village Zones A and B, offering scheduled round-trip rides between the Village and corresponding competition/training venues. Additionally, the Village also offers transport services connecting its two Zones with Chengdu Tianfu International Airport, Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, and Chengdudong Railway Station.

The Village will host a cultural program series themed "Distinctive Features ? Cultural Immersion ? Shared Beauty". For instance, Zone A's cultural area will feature hands-on experience activities highlighting fine traditional Chinese culture, China's intangible cultural heritage crafts, and "Chinese Bridge" Chinese language interactive learning programs.

"Through our dedicated efforts, we aim to create a warm, inclusive, and secure home-away-from-home for all participants, where Chengdu's surprises, warmth, and memories accompany every athlete from arrival to departure," stated an official from the TWG Village Committee.
